What’s Involved in a
LAN Audit?
A LAN audit
conducted by an OMNI SG technician typically takes about four to eight hours to complete. During this time, a thorough examination of
your network will take place.
It’s
important to understand though that this LAN Audit will not
interfere with your daily operations. Nothing will be changed
or altered in your network. We will simply gather information
about your current environment and provide you with whatever
recommendations we feel are warranted. This may include
suggestions for hardware, software, security, network
procedures, data back-up and more.
If you have
existing areas of concern, we advise you to let us know about
those items in advance, so that we can focus specifically on
these areas during the audit.
What do
we check?
As part of
the LAN audit process, we gather and check:
-
Company Information
-
Network Configuration
-
Server
Configuration – including, but not limited to Disaster
Recovery Plans, Virus Protection, Security configuration,
Firewall/Router, Backup Information, etc.
-
Internet Information
-
Printers and Major Peripherals
-
User Information
-
Workstation Configuration
-
Application Documentation - Licensing
-
Database Documentation - Licensing
-
Procedures and Policies
-
Service Logs
-
Anti-Virus Protection Status
-
Vendor Information
Upon
completion of the audit, we will put a summary report together
for you with recommendations based on our findings.
A complete
LAN audit can provide you with detailed information regarding
the integrity of your current system, ensure your hardware and
software systems are performing at optimum levels, and
highlight areas of concern and make recommendations for future
growth.
